And unlike most branded TVs. I have a laptop connected to TV with S-vhs to composite adapter. I have no RCA ..
However the image is bigger than the screen. seeing as how the users manual that came with the card doesnt tell you **** all about tv-out, hopefully someone here can give me a hand.. Has anyone had this problem and if so have you remedied it? I want the machine to only use the tv as its display - no monitor!

As an alternative, you can install a newer release of Ubuntu. Now I have a Gigabyte GA-7ZXE and the card will only show black and white on the TV out.
Adding radeon modeset=0 or radeon nomodeset=0 don't working too. Furthermore the Radeon driver supports some older chipsets that fglrx does not. My screen is a little bit flashy then, but the colors are there, so is there anyone who knows why the hell that happens? When I check for TV formats, my only selections are variations of PAL. I have 2 of those s-video adapter cable thingys (s-video to phono type cable.....excuse my lack of technical knowledge). All selections are various PAL settings.
If you have Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with Linux kernel 4.4.0 (HWE stack Xenial), you can't install the proprietary fglrx/Catalyst driver. You may have to reboot after plugging in the cable so the card recognizes the 75 ohm load from the TV. Nothing affects it at all. I've heard that a change can be made using RadEdit but I'm not sure how to retrieve my firmware info from the card.

I checked on the ATI web site, but the driver doesn't seem to be there. It's an old one, but when connected to my cable network i always get color. Marc, how da f*ck do u change the regional settings to PAL on the PC? how can i fix the problem of being able to see my desktop on my tv, but cannot see movies when i am trying to play them?
