Since this card is not officially supported in the latest ATI Catalyst driver, I assume we have to wait until it is. toshiba 1TB hard disk not... but unfortunately the lines still flicker across the screen as i use it. Well every thing appears to work fine. I have tried different versions of drivers as well as reinstalling directx.

Because OP's Problem appears to be solved. Connecting your PC to an outside monitor will test whether it is a GPU or monitor issue. It is different than just manually installing. If you look into amd catalyst 10.3 release notes for linux and windows on ati.amd.com you can see that windows driver supports mobility radeon hd 5XXX series and linux driver doesn't. I mean, how can I know if I just threw money away buying this ...
